Zephyr

A site-specific outdoor projection, Zephyr was presented as part of the Open Studios program for BAD 2023.

Projected across one side of the Loupe studio building, Zephyr captured the sometimes eerie movement of wind through trees, continuing my investigation into unease in natural environments.

The work brought projected vegetation into relation with the site’s existing plantings and the building’s surface, focusing attention on the space between the familiar suburban landscape and an otherworldly blue sky.

Building on Uneasery (2021), Zephyr extended my use of projection as a way of moving images between natural and built spaces. It also formed a quiet dialogue with Departure, the exhibition presented inside the building.
