Peepshow

Peepshow

Peepshow offers a glimpse into the diverse practices of several current and former Meanjin | Brisbane-based artists. In this show each artist reveals a current fixation in their practice through a selected work. The artists invite the audience to follow their gaze as they peer out from, peek into, spy on and stare down what captivates their creative process.

Artist Statement

Over time, I have accumulated an extensive archive of thirty-second videos, brief acts of looking recorded without a predetermined outcome. For Peepshow, selected recordings were presented on continuous loops across multiple phone screens, bringing these fragments together as a spatial installation.

The work extended my moving-image practice beyond large-scale projection, treating the screens, their differing scales and orientations, and the exposed cables as material elements of the installation. The devices become part of the act of looking.
